How we collect information
- Cookies: A cookie is a small data file that certain web sites write to your hard drive when you visit them. Cookies have the ability to store information about web pages viewed and the advertisements viewed or clicked. Cookies can also save user information, screen preferences, language preferences, privacy settings, what somebody buys etc.
- Pixels: Pixel tags (also called clear GIFs, web beacons, or pixels) are small blocks of code on a webpage that allow websites to do things like read and place cookies. The resulting connection can include information such as the person’s IP address, the time the person viewed the pixel and the type of browser being used.
Why we collect data
The data is used to create profiles of users. With this profiles we are able show the users relevant advertisements. This is positive for both advertiser and user, because we serve out a less disruptive user experience. This process of matching user profiles with advertisements is fully automated. Only a few selected employees are able to see the user profiles.
You are able to let your web browser refuse every cookie (see your browser’s help function). This, however, may ensure that you can’t use all the features of a website. It is also an option to opt-out from us collecting data. This does not mean you will not see advertisements anymore. You will still see advertisements, but they will not match your interests anymore. If you do not want to receive matching advertisements from us, you can opt-out.
Aim4Media is making use of the Appnexus platform to serve its advertisements. Simply click on the link below in order to opt-out yourself:
